Our family’s private Instagram tour in Santorini, Greece, was an unforgettable experience. We embarked on this adventure while docked at the Santorini port from our cruise, and it turned out to be one of the most memorable days of our trip. This blog post will take you through each stop of our Santorini Instagram tour, sharing the highlights and unique moments that made it so special.

Starting in Oia: The Most Instagrammable Place

Our journey began in Oia, widely regarded as the most Instagrammable place on the island, if not all of Greece. Notably, Oia is famous for its charming narrow paths, blue-domed chapels, and traditional white-washed houses built into the niches of the rocks. As we wandered through the picturesque streets, our guide, Evan, led us to the best spots for capturing stunning photos.

Thanks to his expertise, Evan knew all the hidden gems and angles to avoid the crowds. For instance, we would often approach a beautiful spot only to find a line of 25-30 people waiting to take a photo. However, Evan assured us that he knew of another spot to get the same shot without the wait, and he never disappointed.

Because of his deep knowledge of the area, he guided us through the paths and secret locations, allowing us to capture those perfect Instagram shots effortlessly. Even better, Evan offered to take pictures of us throughout the day, ensuring we had plenty of family photos to cherish.

Firostefani: A Village with Volcano Views

After exploring Oia, we continued to Firostefani, a village adjacent to the capital of Fira. Naturally, Firostefani offers an incredible view of the volcano and the caldera, making it a prime location for photography. Once there, we captured the famous picture of the blue dome church with the volcano in the background, a scene depicted in countless images of Santorini. Not only did the vantage point provide a breathtaking panorama, but Evan’s guidance also ensured we captured the best angles.

Akrotiri Lighthouse: Endless Blue of the Aegean Sea

Our next stop was the lighthouse of Akrotiri, located in the southern part of the island. Built in 1892, it is one of the oldest lighthouses in Greece. The lighthouse stands as a sentinel overlooking the endless blue of the Aegean Sea. This spot was perfect for taking in the vast expanse of the sea and capturing its beauty. The contrast between the rugged cliffs and the serene waters created a stunning backdrop for our photos.

Red Beach: Unique Volcanic Landscape

We then moved on to the Red Beach, one of the most unique beaches we have ever seen. Situated in the southern part of the island, the Red Beach is known for its striking red volcanic cliffs and sand. The vibrant colors and dramatic landscape made it an ideal location for photography. We spent time admiring the volcanic formations and capturing the beauty of this extraordinary beach.

Pyrgos Village and Prophet Elias Monastery: Panoramic Views

Our tour continued as we passed by the old capital of Pyrgos village and then headed up to the Prophet Elias monastery, the highest point on the island. From this vantage point, we were able to admire an exclusive view of the entire island and the surrounding areas.

The panoramic views were breathtaking, and we took even more amazing photographs. The monastery’s serene atmosphere and stunning vistas provided a perfect setting for capturing the essence of Santorini.

Santo Winery: Sunset and Wine Tasting

Finally, we ended our day at Santo Winery, the largest winery on the island, located on the west side. Without a doubt, words cannot describe the stunning view from this winery.

As the sun began to set, the sky transformed into a canvas of vibrant colors, creating a mesmerizing backdrop for our evening. Meanwhile, we tried amazing wine flights, sampling a variety of cheeses, meats, and crackers. Not only that, but our waiter recommended specific pairings, and his suggestions were always spot on.

As a result, the combination of delicious wines, delectable food, and the breathtaking sunset made this experience truly unforgettable. We took countless pictures from this amazing viewpoint, capturing the beauty of the moment.
